Wyse Technology, the global leader in cloud client computing, today announced new versions of its iOS apps PocketCloud and PocketCloud Pro, enhancing performance and adding the ability to multitask while securely connected to a Mac, PC, or virtual desktop. In addition to the improvement of the iOS apps, Wyse is announcing 550,000 PocketCloud downloads on iOS and Android platforms, and nearly 30 million total computer sessions created since the product launched only a year ago.
A recent survey showed over three quarters of PocketCloud users use the app every week, with over 21 percent using the app multiple times per day. This level of engagement is rare among mobile apps and PocketCloud has a strong following of both enterprise users and consumers looking for the full PC experience on the go.
“We are in the midst of a mobile cloud computing revolution catalyzed by tablets and smartphones,” states Daniel Barreto, GM, Mobile Cloud Business Unit at Wyse. “Our PocketCloud app has introduced virtualization to a new segment of mobile users who have left behind their desktop PCs, and are now able to leave their laptops at home, as well.”
Wyse PocketCloud is a free app that allows users to access their PCs or Mac computers or virtual environments remotely from their phone or tablet. PocketCloud has been optimized for iOS with a highly accurate Touch Pointer, custom keyboard with short-cut keys, and enhanced sound support using RDP for different connection types encountered while on the move.
What’s new in Version 2.2:
The iOS update brings multitasking to PocketCloud on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. This enables users to connect to their desktop, send the app to the background to answer a call, and return to PocketCloud retaining the connection to their desktop. The update also increases performance under iOS 4.2.
