PHD Virtual Technologies, pioneer and innovator in virtual backup, recovery and monitor solutions continued its steep growth curve by increasing sales 50% on a year over year basis in Q2. Growth was evenly distributed across all regions, sectors and channels, with new customers representing 70% of sales. PHD Virtual's ability to quickly restore full VM's, virtual disks, objects, files, and folders without any additional physical or virtual infrastructure creates a competitive advantage that continues to attract new business. In addition to sales growth for its Citrix and VMware backup and recovery products, PHD Virtual also had a very strong positive reaction to the early access program for the PHD Virtual Monitor product which was rolled out late in the quarter. Over 1900 licenses were sold in a very short time period and a very robust pipeline has been created for the next two quarters.
The new PHD Virtual monitor for Citrix and Vmware is well positioned between freeware and enterprise offerings to satisfy IT professionals who are looking for robust enterprise capabilities at a fraction of the cost of typical enterprise products. Unlike competitors which only leverage the hypervisor to monitor the virtual machines and therefore provide only a partial view, PHD Virtual Monitor provides complete visibility adding to its hypervisor metrics, a light weight agent that can be deployed on virtual machines where deep diagnostic data, not available using only the hypervisor, is desired. In addition, the technology provides visibility into physical elements such as routers, switches and servers that may impact the performance of the virtual environment. Customers continue to cite this comprehensive approach to monitoring virtual infrastructure and the ease of use and deployment, as the reasons for choosing PHD Virtual.
"We had strong competitive wins over others whose products are limited to monitoring the hypervisor, have technology that is difficult to deploy, or is too expensive. Many others are network utilities with little knowledge of virtualization and it shows in their product offerings," stated Thomas Charlton, PHD Virtual's CEO. "Customers consistently expressed the critical need to collect metrics from the hypervisor, virtual machines, and physical infrastructure using an agent and/or agentless approach to eliminate "blind spots" in their monitoring."
Events that PHD Virtual attended in May and June were Citrix Synergy San Francisco and numerous VMware User Groups in major US cities. Late June also featured PHD Virtual in a segment of the Citrix Master Class. Upcoming Q3 events will include VMworld in Las Vegas.
