With the recent launch of VMware vSphere 5, Scott Lowe is now able to let the cat out of the bag about his new book, Mastering VMware vSphere 5.
This book is an updated revision to his popular vSphere 4 book, and now completely updated and refreshed for the latest and greatest release of vSphere 5.
The new book will cover the major new features just announced by VMware:
- Storage DRS
- Profile-driven storage
- New hardware offloads in VAAI v2
- The Linux-based vCenter Server virtual appliance
Scott said that this book will supply comprehensive coverage of the entire product suite, from installation to networking to storage, security, and automation. And he added, "This book won’t go as deep as some other books on the market, but that’s not really its purpose. Mastering VMware vSphere 5 is targeted at getting you as much relevant, real-world information as possible to help you manage and optimize your vSphere 5 environment."
The book is currently slated for release around September 20, 2011. So it won't be available at the VMworld book store, unfortunately. But you can still order it online. The plan is to have it available in both print and electronic format around the same time. So watch for it!
Congrats to Scott on this latest book. He is a friend, a great person, and a really good author when it comes to these types of books. So I recommend you check it out if you are interested in learning more about vSphere 5.
