Virtual Computer to Demonstrate NxTop 4.1 at Citrix Synergy 2012, Delivering Advanced Management of Distributed Virtual Desktops

Virtual Computer, the leader in intelligent desktop virtualization, will be demonstrating advanced management of distributed virtual desktops at Citrix Synergy 2012 on Tuesday May 8th. Virtual Computer was the first company to develop a comprehensive system for centrally managing Type-1 client hypervisors, enabling companies to manage virtual desktops that are running securely on a PC rather than in a data center. “Management of distributed virtual desktops is becoming increasingly important as laptops are the fastest growing segment of the commercial PC sector,” said Brett Waldman, Senior Research Analyst for IDC’s Cloud and Virtualization System Software.

NxTop 4.1 is our most sophisticated product release to date allowing for support of tens of thousands of users from a single management console,” said Dan McCall, CEO of Virtual Computer. “Together with our broad hypervisor compatibility on notebook and desktop PC’s, any size organization can now reduce their PC management cost, improve their end-point security and make their overall desktop delivery more reliable.”

With this latest release, NxTop further extends its leadership position in the management of distributed virtual desktops. NxTop 4.1 will also offer the broadest hardware compatibility of any Type-1 client hypervisor, including support for the latest 3rd generation Intel Core processor family. New management capabilities include:

  • Role-Based Management enabling corporate IT to define and create granular admin roles that have specifically defined capabilities such as creating and managing VMs, administering users, defining and managing policies, or any other privileges to be permissioned by role.
  • Simplified Active Directory Integration with the ability to directly browse the AD hierarchy and integrate the entire domain, selected OUs, or individual users, enabling large enterprises to implement staged deployments or manage deployments limited to particular groups of users.
  • Advanced Management Interface with a full screen VM console, the ability to search or apply persistent filters to users, groups, and computers, the capability to save persistent filters by administrator, and advanced reporting of deployed client hypervisor versions.
  • Enhanced Storage & Backup Controls including the ability to run nightly backups in parallel and the ability to centrally control and adjust virtual drive sizes for active user VMs.

Virtual Computer will be demonstrating NxTop 4.1 at the Citrix Synergy show, and expects the release to be generally available by the end of May.
