At VMworld 2012, CloudFounders
is issuing a challenge to the technical ‘wizards’ out there to design a
true private cloud platform using enterprise grade hardware and software
for less than $10,000.
“For the last six years we have been developing CloudFrames
to deliver the most complete private cloud offering and we believe we
have succeeded,” explains Joost Metten, CEO of CloudFounders. “We
challenge anybody to design a rival system using any combination of best
of breed technologies that delivers a true private cloud at this price
point - we welcome the competition.”
The Challenge:
-
Defined as an on-premise private cloud platform
-
The platform must be able to support 50 virtual machines or virtual
desktops
-
A minimum of 4TB of reliable storage with thin provisioning
capabilities
-
SAN delivering up to 15,000 IOPS
-
A cloud and virtual data center management software that allows
granular allocations of CPU, storage and networking resources
-
Must be able to simply scale the number of users, cloud nodes and sites
-
Multiple hypervisor support across VMWare, Hyper-V, Xen and VirtualBox
-
Must include all first year licensing costs
-
Must include first year “business hours” telephone support
-
Has to be deployable in a single day
The private cloud technology developed by CloudFounders, CloudFrames,
has been deployed by more than 2,000 customers over the last two years
through a previous OEM agreement.
