PLUMgrid, the leader in Virtual Network Infrastructure (VNI), announced today that it has received the Gold level award in the networking and virtualization category as part of the TechTarget’s “Best of VMworld 2013” awards. The judges recognized the PLUMgrid Platform -- which provides on-demand, self-service, multi-tenant and scalable network services to help companies manage their virtual, physical and cloud data centers -- as the top networking and virtualization product.
Recognized in the awards ceremony at VMworld 2013, PLUMgrid was selected by an independent team of judges consisting of experts and editors from SearchServerVirtualization based on technology innovation, value, performance, reliability and ease of use. PLUMgrid Platform was selected as the Gold winner from a field, which included more than 200 nominees and 160 products on display at the 2013 VMworld conference.
“PLUMgrid won the best of VMworld 2013 award in the network and virtualization category because it offers software defined networking for VMware and OpenStack infrastructures. It provisions virtual switches, L4 load balancers and security policies through an HTML5 interface,” said the SearchServerVirtualization.com editors in an official statement.
“We’re honored to be recognized as a ‘Best of VMworld’ winner this year,” said Awais Nemat, Co-founder and CEO of PLUMgrid. “The need for advanced networking in virtual environments has become evident with the proliferation of virtual machines (VMs) and the increased demand for cloud automation. At an event where virtual networking was a key message for VMware, we’re happy to see an industry validate a vision we’ve been working on the last two years. Our unique product design that enables the creation of complete networks in virtual domains as well our advanced visibility and analytics are driving strong customer interest that we only expect to accelerate with the visibility from winning this prestigious award.”
The PLUMgrid Platform is a new kind of Virtual Network Infrastructure (VNI) that allows businesses to completely replicate the functions of a physical network infrastructure (PNI) in a virtual environment without requiring new hardware investment or changes to existing hardware infrastructure. The new cloud-based package virtualizes and automates data center operations, enabling the creation of on-demand programmable networks called ‘virtual domains.’ The PLUMgrid Platform, featuring the unique IO Visor Technology, brings automation to the data center resulting in dramatic reduction in operating expense and unlocking of significant new business value. It is targeted at enterprises and cloud service providers building private and public cloud data centers.
