Last week, I had the pleasure of once again being invited and able to attend the 3rd annual Zenoss GalaxZ 2017 User Conference which took place in my home town of
Austin, TX. The city was once more transformed from the "Live Music Capital of the World" to the "Live Monitoring Capital of
Zenoss welcomed over 550 customers and partners to
the JW Marriott, a fantastic venue for this event. GalaxZ promoted learning,
facilitated networking and cultivated collaboration among business
leaders, industry experts and IT practitioners who build, manage and improve the future of hybrid IT monitoring for global
The keynotes this year were again educational thanks to renowned cloud
thought leader Zorawar Biri Singh, Kishen Mangat, vice president and general manager of Cisco, and Daniel Newman,
CEO of Broadsuite Media Group. The three speakers combined for a riveting keynote session that walked through
society's journey from the Industrial Revolution through the technology
revolution and then pontificated on what lies ahead.
Each speaker touched on the already-understood revolution of big
data. And Zenoss CEO, Greg Stock, went on to point out that Zenoss collects 72 million metrics every
five minutes to put things into perspective. Stock described the
journey of Zenoss becoming a leader in a world of IoT, massive
quantities of data, and elastic computing instances. And as things continue to grow in the world of business, we're going to rely more heavily on predictive analytics,
self-healing data centers and intelligent service assurance.
The conference continued with a
high-profile speaker lineup of customers and partners from companies
including Google Cloud, ServiceNow, Grainger, NetApp, and NTT DATA to name but a few.
And yes, once again this year, the focus was very much
customer-centric. Zenoss believes in "customers for life" and that they
are "better together," driving IT innovation to
support a unique ecosystem. GalaxZ17 was about bringing together Zenoss
+ Partners + Customers and community... and they again succeeded. To showcase that message even further on stage, Stock told audience members, "if you take our journey, our mission
and our vision, and add the letter Y, they become Your journey, Your
mission and Your vision." That's why customers enjoy this conference, and why they continue to buy and buy into the Zenoss product line.
After sitting through a number of great presentations and speaking
with various experts in the vendor hall, I'll be digesting this
information for weeks to come. For me, one of the big hits this year had to be Zenoss-as-a-Service or ZaaS. After last year's conference, I read the tea leaves and knew this was going to become a powerful way forward for the company, and it has.
If you weren't able to attend, you can check out some of my GalaxZ17 photos. And you can watch the below highlight video to see what you may have missed.
Once again, a special thank you to Zenoss for the invite to this year's event.
