Turbonomic Names Mark Thurmond Chief Operating Officer

Turbonomic today announced that Mark Thurmond has joined as the company's first Chief Operating Officer (COO), reporting to Benjamin Nye, CEO. Effective immediately, Thurmond will drive and ensure operational excellence across Turbonomic's global sales and enablement, partner and strategic alliances, customer success and marketing operations to better serve and support customers and partners - from prospecting and selling, through implementation and ongoing success. The appointment reflects Turbonomic's deepened commitment and investment to global customer and partner success as the company continues to rapidly grow customer segments, industries and help organizations transition from on-premises to a hybrid cloud world.

Thurmond is an accomplished technology industry veteran with IT infrastructure and cloud domain experience. He joins Turbonomic from his most recent position as Executive Vice President at Qlik Technologies, where he led Worldwide Sales and Services. Prior to Qlik Technologies, he held global sales and operations leadership positions for multiple business units within Boston-based EMC, including RSA and VCE (all now part of Dell Technologies). Prior to EMC, he held sales leadership positions in Europe and Asia at PTC.

"Mark is a rare go-to-market executive with outstanding success scaling companies. From his leadership roles at PTC, EMC, RSA and VCE, to his most recent tenure with Qlik, Mark has a proven track record of taking companies from $100 million to over $1 billion in revenues," said Nye. "The key is that Mark brings a global and channel-first mindset together with deep IT infrastructure and cloud domain experience. As the newest member of our leadership team, Mark will ensure Turbonomic customers and partners receive a world-class experience on their journey to and management in the hybrid cloud."

"By 2020, public cloud workloads are expected to grow by 63 percent. Turbonomic is at the core of what will be a hybrid cloud future," said Thurmond. "The Turbonomic platform lowers costs while assuring performance and maintaining continuous compliance, in real-time, both on-premises and in hybrid cloud environments. I believe Turbonomic is very well positioned for one of the highest-growth markets in IT, and I'm thrilled to be part of this very talented team."

Mark is the latest key addition to Turbonomic's executive leadership team. The company was recently named to the Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 list for the second consecutive year, and awarded "Next Pillar Tech Company" by the New England Venture Capital Association (NEVCA) at the 2017 NEVY Awards.
