WhiteHat Security Builds Momentum in 2017 - Record Growth, Key Customer Wins and Continued Innovation

2017 was a record-breaking year of growth in revenue, new customers and product innovation for WhiteHat Security. Some of the key milestones include:

  • The addition of 200+ new enterprise customers,
  • A ground-breaking security testing product for DevOps,
  • The creation of a security training and certification program for developers,
  • The launch of an innovative new partner program, which achieved 40% year-over-year growth

"Our results are further evidence that we tapped a number of critical needs in the market in 2017," said Craig Hinkley, CEO of WhiteHat Security. "The need for a single platform that can provide all of the application security services required to secure the entire SDLC; for security training and certification for developers; and for the security staffing and expertise that so many organizations struggle to find. Our platform, training programs and Threat Research Center team helped hundreds of organizations secure their digital business in 2017, and new services and eLearning offerings in 2018 will continue this great momentum."    

Customers represented the "who's who" of financial services, healthcare, biopharmaceuticals, retail, information technology, and entertainment; more than 200 of the Fortune 500 are WhiteHat customers. The company also saw dramatic growth in its SMB and mid-market business, evidence of the growing awareness of the need for application security in organizations of all sizes. WhiteHat's channel program, the WhiteHat Partner Network, built the largest channel pipeline in the history of the company. 

2017 Highlights:

Product Innovation 

Now an established part of the WhiteHat Application Security Platform, WhiteHat Scout is a fully automated static application security testing (SAST) solution. Powered by WhiteHat's Attack Vector Intelligence (AVI) technology, Scout is focused squarely on developers. With Scout, developers can quickly scan their code for security vulnerabilities as a part of their iterative, fast-paced, agile SDLC processes. A recent 451 Research report described Scout as a solution that "puts security expertise at the developer's fingertips".

Focus on DevSecOps

Primed for further customer success in 2018, the WhiteHat Application Security Platform represents the company's dedicated focus on a solution that combines the worlds of security and development. This is a critical step forward as evidenced in WhiteHat's 12th annual application security report, which uncovered real evidence about the importance of security and development teams working together to secure applications during their entire lifecycle.

Training & Certification

In 2017, WhiteHat took a major lead in educating and training the wider security and developer community by unveiling the WhiteHat Certified Secure Developer (WCSD) program. Since its launch last Spring, over 3,300 people have enrolled and more than 500 developers have been certified. The WCSD program continues in 2018, with a new certification period opening up in February. 

In order to provide tools, best practices and training for implementing DevSecOps, WhiteHat launched the WhiteHat Learning Labs. This resource center is designed to empower both DevOps teams and security teams with a solid foundation in security principles and best practices in development.

Thought Leadership, Education & Awards

In 2017 and, for the fourth time in a row, WhiteHat was positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the ‘Leader' quadrant of the 2017 Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing (AST) report. WhiteHat Security has been included in the upper right quadrant of this report since its inception.

Last year also saw WhiteHat win a series of industry awards including, Best Application Security Product in the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards, where WhiteHat Sentinel was recognized by the Information Security community for its DevSecOps capabilities and a unique combination of advanced technology and human intelligence. In addition, the company was named to the JMP Securities Super 60 list of the hottest privately held companies and included on the Cybersecurity Ventures Cybersecurity 500 list of the world's hottest and most innovative cybersecurity companies. 

Partner Development

WhiteHat announced the WhiteHat Partner Network, an innovative partner program for the company's network of value-added resellers (VARs), system integrators (SIs) and managed security service providers (MSSPs). With the new program came a new partner portal that provides content subscription services for easy and immediate access to new sales enablement material, and full integration with Salesforce.com to deliver real-time deal-registration and round-the-clock visibility into all deals in process.
