DataCore to Present Software-Defined Storage and the Customer Path to NVMe-oF at Flash Memory Summit

Adding a new storage system is a great deal of work for IT departments; data migration, new management tools, additional hardware and deciding what applications to assign to the new, faster technology are all important considerations. NVMe in particular is even more challenging because taking advantage of faster storage requires making the entire system faster.

Ben Treiber, the senior director of engineering product management at DataCore Software, has an upcoming session at Flash Memory Summit that will explore how software-defined storage is an attractive option to address these challenges and accelerate the adoption of NVMe over Fabric.

Treiber will discuss the need for a smart and agile software-defined storage layer that enables enterprises to seamlessly integrate new technologies such as NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF). DataCore has a customer base consisting of more than 10,000 software-defined storage and hyperconverged deployments, of which the majority utilize Fibre Channel and Parallel I/O technologies. Many DataCore customers depend on the product's high availability and high-performance for mission-critical business and database applications. While there is always a need for more performance, those customers cannot afford to suffer the disruptions required to try new technologies and the "rip and replace" abandonment of current investments. Treiber will detail what DataCore has learned from its customer base and how software-defined storage and Parallel I/O technologies can overcome the challenges and disruptions that can potentially slow down the successful migration to NVMe-oF.

The presentation is designed to benefit anyone that is interested in learning how software-defined storage can accelerate the adoption of NVMe technology in existing IT environments, and how it can become an integral part of the storage infrastructure of an organization.

Flash Memory Summit will take place from August 7-9, 2018.  And Ben Treiber's session will take place on Tuesday, August 7th at 10:15 a.m.
