Cradlepoint's 'Pathway to 5G for Business' Launches at Mobile World Congress Americas

Cradlepoint announced it is working with Verizon to develop a ‘Pathway to 5G for Business'  program. The program launched this week at Mobile World Congress Americas with plans to leverage Verizon's LTE Advanced technologies and new 5G broadband internet service with Cradlepoint's wireless network solutions at the customer edge.

"There is a lot of excitement and anticipation within the business community regarding the transformative role 5G will play in next-generation wide-area networks," said Justin Blair, executive director of business products at Verizon. "We're excited to collaborate with Cradlepoint on their ‘Pathway to 5G for Business' program and to leverage their enterprise experience with the capabilities of our LTE Advanced and 5G network technologies."

Cradlepoint has worked closely with Verizon on early 5G lab deployments with its AER2200 serving as the on-premise wireless router in numerous 5G customer trials. Through the experience gained in these deployments, Cradlepoint has enhanced its NetCloud service and AER2200 wireless edge router, as well as all future products, to be 5G Pathway Ready.

"From one of the world's first 4G LTE enterprise network deployments to early 5G customer trials and today's announcement on developing a ‘Pathway to 5G for Business' program, Cradlepoint and Verizon have worked together to deliver innovative wireless solutions to business customers," said George Mulhern, Cradlepoint chairman and CEO. "Together, we are committed to providing an evolutionary path to 5G that delivers the pervasive connectivity and network agility that enterprises need to embrace digital transformation fully and connect people, places and things."

Under the program, Cradlepoint and Verizon will provide business customers with a 5G trial program based on Verizon's 5G broadband internet service and Cradlepoint's NetCloud service and AER2200 wireless edge router. The trial includes installation of all of the customer premise equipment required to provide a complete 5G broadband internet solution. The AER2200 provides Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi for site connectivity, unified edge security for direct internet access, and automatic 4G LTE Advanced fallback. Cradlepoint NetCloud Manager allows technicians to monitor, manage and troubleshoot the deployment remotely.

"With the roll-out of 5G services commencing, we are entering a new and disruptive era for cellular wireless services which promises to provide users with fast, ‘always on' communications that rival wired connections," said Mike Sapien, VP and chief analyst at OVUM. "Given their expertise and dominance in the enterprise space for advanced 4G LTE network solutions, Cradlepoint is the best choice to build a ‘Pathway to 5G for Business' program. In the short-term, the B2B market represents one of the most significant opportunities for 5G and this partnership can only speed its development and delivery."
