Are you getting ready for the upcoming RSA Conference, the world’s leading information security conference and exposition? The event is quickly approaching, taking place June 6-9, 2022, both digitally and yes, physically, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. For four days, you’ll gain insights, join conversations and experience solutions that could make a huge impact on your organization and your career.
Ahead of the show, VMblog received an exclusive interview with ExtraHop, a leader in cloud-native network detection and response, allowing enterprises to detect malicious behavior, hunt advanced threats, and forensically investigate any incident with confidence.

VMblog: To kick things off, give VMblog readers a quick overview of the company.
ExtraHop: At ExtraHop, we know that intrusions are inevitable, but we believe that breaches don’t have to be. That’s why we’re on a mission to help our customers stop the most advanced threats like double-extortion ransomware, software supply chain exploitation, and nation-state attacks.
Unlike traditional network security that focuses on preventing intrusion at the perimeter, we harness the power of the network to detect and stop the most advanced threats already inside your environment. Our platform, Reveal(x) 360, applies cloud-scale AI to petabytes of traffic per day, performing line-rate decryption and behavioral analysis on live network telemetry to detect, investigate, and respond to post-compromise attack activity-including 90% of MITRE ATT&CK techniques-across all infrastructure, workloads, and data-in-flight.
There are no agents to instrument, and no logs to enable, which allows our customers to defend and secure their business operations without slowing them down or introducing friction for developers, IT operations, or business stakeholders in the process.
VMblog: Where/how can attendees find you at the show?
ExtraHop: Come say hello to us at booth S-1327! At the booth you can try your hand at our brand new video game, “Threat Hunter.” You can also meet with our experts and get a demo of our product. We’ll also be giving away a GoTrax electric scooter, T-Shirts, and more!
On Monday, June 6, join us at Gotham Club in Oracle Park for the CrowdStrike XDR Alliance Happy Hour from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
We also hope you’ll join ExtraHop’s VP of Security Response Services, Mark Bowling on Wednesday, June 8 from 2:25 – 3:15 PM PT for his presentation What Will It Take to Stop Ransomware?
VMblog: What are some top priorities for security leaders at RSA to consider this year?
ExtraHop: Thinking back on how we would have answered this question if RSA had taken place in February, it’s amazing to think about how much has changed-and how much has not.
On the “what has changed” front, the Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February raised the sense of urgency, and the stakes, for cybersecurity professionals around the world. The CISA Shields Up guidance, issued just two days after the invasion began, put a forceful point on the matter:
2021 was another year filled with one high-profile attack after the next. There’s no doubt about it, attackers have gotten more advanced, and they are investing heavily in innovation.
Gone are the days of the opportunistic cyberattacker-the kid in the basement of his mom’s house. He grew up and has a lucrative full-time job in cybercrime now. And the company he works for? Well, they care just as much about strategy, partnerships, higher profits, and scalability as any self-respecting business would. All that work is paying off: as an industry, cyberattacking has experienced record profits, little overhead or beachheads to move, and a total addressable market most industries could only dream of.
When we say attackers have the advantage, this is what we’re talking about. They’re not just at the top of their game, they’re also unencumbered by the things that chew up our security teams’ time–responding to alerts, managing technology, improving hygiene, or defending the business from attacks.
Attackers are using their extra time and energy to invest in research and development of their own. Namely, in exploring new techniques that will ensure a big blast radius, and thus a big payout. With attackers this advanced, investing in more of the same will see diminishing returns.
It’s time to find a new approach.
Security leaders like you should come to RSA Conference ready to learn about attackers’ techniques, including the evasion of fundamental security tooling like logs and agents, the use of encryption to hide malicious traffic, and the increased manipulation of third-parties to piggyback into your network.
By learning what attackers are up to, security leaders like you can craft an informed, modern defense. This year’s RSA Conference will help you find new avenues to keep your enterprise and customers out of harm’s way–including paths to reducing the risk, how to avoid being a target, and improving your resilience should you find your organization under attack.
VMblog: What can attendees expect to learn when they come by your booth?
ExtraHop: The driving force of our presence at RSA Conference is our mission of helping enterprises take back the cyber advantage in order to achieve their own missions. When enterprises are caught between the drive for digital transformation and the need to reduce digital risk, they are slowed down and customer experience often suffers as a result.
Stop by booth S-1327 to learn more about how AI-based network intelligence from ExtraHop accelerates and secures enterprises so they can focus on their mission.
Speak with an ExtraHop expert for a live walkthrough of Reveal(x) 360 and learn all ways that AI-based network intelligence can help your enterprise. Be sure to stick around for our booth presentation, happening twice an hour, for an overview of how, with ExtraHop, you can turn security into a competitive advantage.
Finally, for a bit of entertainment, booth visitors will also have a chance to earn some bragging rights and a shot at a big-ticket prize. We all know how it feels to have cyberattackers running amuck in our environments. Try your hand at zapping them into oblivion in our interactive video game, “Threat Hunter.”
