Kubermatic announced its collaboration with Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading ICT company, on the
launch of its new Kubernetes Service. Now generally available to all of Swisscom’s Private Cloud
users, the new CNCF-certified platform is built on Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform (KKP) to deliver
a powerful, sovereign, and feature-rich cloud-native solution.

Swisscom set out to develop a modern, future-ready platform capable of meeting evolving
enterprise requirements. Key challenges included ensuring costs efficiency, enabling greater
innovation agility, closing feature gaps relative to global hyperscalers, and meeting Switzerland’s
stringent data sovereignty requirements.

To address these challenges, Swisscom architected a completely new, highly available platform
grounded in open-source principles. By partnering with Kubermatic, Swisscom established a robust
foundation using KKP for powerful automation, provisioning, and orchestration across its
Swiss-based data centers. The new open-source stack, built on Baremetal and KubeVirt, provides
the flexibility and control needed for a modern, competitive service.

“Together with Kubermatic, a leading Kubernetes platform provider, we have established a robust
and future-ready foundation based on open-source technologies,” said Christian Dietrich, Product
Manager for Cloud Services at Swisscom.

“We are proud to partner with an industry leader like Swisscom to help them achieve their strategic
goals,” said Sebastian Scheele, CEO of Kubermatic. “This project is a perfect example of our
commitment to providing powerful, open-source solutions that enable enterprises and service
providers to increase architectural independence and deliver sovereign, high-performance
platforms for their customers.”

The new Kubernetes Service, powered by Kubermatic, delivers transformational results for both
Swisscom and its customers, including:

  • True Data Sovereignty: A fully compliant platform hosted, operated, and supported exclusively in Switzerland.
  • Elimination of proprietary components: Full control over the technology roadmap by moving to a 100% open-source stack.
  • Hyperscaler-Grade Experience: A modern, feature-rich, and intuitive self-service platform that accelerates customers’ digital transformation.

For enterprises looking to accelerate their digital transformation, Swisscom’s Kubernetes Service offers a robust, secure, and scalable solution.
