Spectra Logic announced the availability of Media Insight, a new capability for its Rio Media Suite platform that makes archived media easier to find, preview, and restore. Media Insight brings AI-powered enrichment to the discovery process, analyzing archived video to identify scenes and other elements within the content. This added intelligence makes large media collections easier to explore and personalize.
Traditional archive workflows often require users to identify an asset, restore it from archive storage and wait for the full-resolution content to become available before they can determine whether it is the right asset. Media Insight simplifies this workflow by generating thumbnails and proxies from high-resolution video, giving users an easy way to search and preview content before initiating a restore. This enables more efficient discovery and retrieval of content within the media archive.

Media Insight extends the archive discovery workflow by providing media teams with thumbnails, proxies, metadata-driven search, AI-assisted enrichment and access to associated production assets, helping them find, preview, understand and evaluate content before retrieving high-resolution files. Users can then select the portion of a file they need and use Partial File Restore to retrieve only that content. By supporting the workflow from search through targeted restore, Media Insight can streamline archive workflows and make archived media more useful for ongoing production and content reuse.
