OutlookSoft Uses Surgient Virtual Labs to Accelerate Customer Proficiency and Adoption

From Surgient's Press Release:

Surgient, the leader in virtual lab applications for automating software demo, test and training labs today announced that its Virtual Training Lab Management System (VTMS) application is being used by OutlookSoft Corporation, the first company to enable predictable performance, to deliver hands-on training for its award-winning OutlookSoft CPM(TM) software.

Most of OutlookSoft’s instructor-led training is delivered online, enabling customers to learn remotely.  Prior to Surgient, for hands-on reinforcement, IT personnel would provision centralized servers for students to access over the web to perform their lab exercises.  However, lab administration and access was cumbersome, expensive and unreliable due to a lack of automation and restrictive corporate network policies.

“Our infrastructure and labor costs – provisioning servers and troubleshooting remote access issues – were not trivial,” said Leslie Kirshaw, VP OutlookSoft University.  “More importantly, we couldn’t ensure a quality online experience for our students.”

OutlookSoft replaced their homegrown solution with Surgient’s VTMS allowing training personnel to easily schedule labs for an entire class.  At the requested time, VTMS automatically provisions all of the labs in a pristine state.  After the class, lab resources are automatically torn down making them immediately available for the next class.

“With Surgient’s VTMS, the training team is completely self-sufficient.  We decide when and for how long labs will be used without any IT involvement,” said Kirshaw.  “The reliability of the solution is unparalleled.  Our students love it and our instructors are happier too because they can focus on teaching instead of dealing with lab issues.”

OutlookSoft also uses VTMS to provide labs for on-site training.  “We no longer ship servers or send IT personnel days before the class to get everything working,” continued Kirshaw.  “With Surgient, our instructors simply show up and teach.  It’s that easy.”

“Leading software companies like OutlookSoft know that ‘learning by doing’ is essential for accelerating proficiency and adoption,” said Erik Josowitz, Surgient VP of Marketing.  “With Surgient’s VTMS, organizations can deliver cost-effective and consistent hands-on training – whenever and wherever it’s needed – without compromising on this principle.”
