Route1 Unveils Desktop Virtualization Roadmap and Solution at Industry Forum

Quoting from the press release:

At the VDI Alliance industry panel discussion taking place today, Route1, Inc., a trusted provider of secure, identity-managed computing solutions, will unveil its technology roadmap in bringing virtual computing access capabilities to the enterprise market.

At this industry forum, Route1 will outline the strategy behind its MobiKEY Virtual Computing Access (VCA) solution, which is based on the company's flagship MobiKEY secure access technology. According to Andrew White, CEO of Route1, "MobiKEY VCA represents a crucial 'missing link' in virtual computing deployment, and is the only offering that provides the tools to get an organization's workforce to their applications and computing resources from any location."

"Even with a virtual computing environment, there is still a need to ensure that your workforce can access their desktops and servers securely regardless of where they are. That's where Route1's technology comes into play," said White. "MobiKEY VCA is an ideal fit with the variety of virtual desktop solutions available today because it delivers highly secure remote desktop access - a capability that promises to play an integral role in the evolution of virtualization moving forward."

Route1's MobiKEY-based VCA strategy, when combined with virtual desktop platforms and Route1's SAFE (Simplified Access for Emergency) Response solution, will enable organizations to simply and cost-effectively deploy a completely virtualized computing environment. At the same time, it will also lessen the operational impact of potential business disruptions resulting from man-made and natural causes.

"Virtual desktops will be an important enterprise deployment model going forward and remote access is an integral part of that," said White. "By working with providers of virtual desktop offerings, enterprises will be able to easily and cost-effectively deliver and manage their desktops, as well as engage in effective disaster recovery and business continuity planning initiatives and lessen the impact of potential work interruptions."

The VDI Alliance industry panel discussion - which is taking place today from 8 to 11 a.m. at the EMC Office, 11 Penn Plaza, Training Room, 11th Floor in New York - includes spokespersons from Route1, VMware, Citrix and Wyse and represents the first time the four industry leaders have come together since the official VDI Alliance announcement on April 24, 2006. The VDI Alliance is a technology alliance of hardware, software and service providers for building joint virtual desktop offerings.
