Mike Laverick continues to help us out, last week, he gave us his upgrade guide for ESX 3.0 and VC 2.0.

This week, Mike offers us a step-by-step process to upgrade/patch ESX 2.x  remotely using a tar ball and perl script from VMware.  He notes, "We must change the boot process to make sure the VMkernel is not loaded during this period using LILO commands".
