According to MacOSXRumors, the rumor mill is working over-time covering news and information around VMware and Mac. As the Intel Mac virtualization battle continues to heat up, anonymous reports are coming in about VMware and their relationship with Apple.
In the recent reports that they have received, they have learned that Apple and VMware have been in talks and that Apple is definitely interested in allowing Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server to run inside a virtualization software solution such as VMware for Mac.
However, sources told MacosXRumors that Apple is not likely to allow the same feature to be present on the PC version of VMware as the company wouldn’t like to see Mac OS X running on non-Apple hardware. This would be product suicide.
They also learned some other interesting details about VMware in general. Though the exact feature set, product name and pricing are yet to be defined, rumor has it that the VMware execs are showing interest in bringing VMware ESX Server to Mac OS X.
Additionally, sources claim that VMware developers want their software to be very Mac-friendly in terms of its user interface. The first release of VMware for Mac should be expected around MacWorld SF 2007, the sources added.
Very interesting rumors... we'll see which of these pan out to be reality and which just fade away gracefully.
