VMware appoints ITX as distributor

Quoting from CRN Australia

Virtual infrastructure software vendor VMware has appointed itX Group as its local distributor for its ACE and Workstation products.

VMware’s ACE locks down PC endpoints and protects resources against the risks presented by unmanaged PCs. The Workstation is a desktop virtualisation software for developers/testers and enterprise IT professionals that runs multiple operating systems simultaneously on a PC.

Greg Newham, general manager, itX said the distributor pursued VMware for about a year before the vendor agreed to sign the agreement.

"VMware was having trouble getting its ACE and Workstation product out into the market. It realised the products lend themselves to our existing product portfolio," he said.

Paul Harapin, managing director of VMware A/NZ said the vendor chose itX because it has products complementary to ACE and Workstation.

He said, “itX specialises in security and thin client products and understands our market and customers”.

Newham said ACE and Workstation complements several of its product lines.

"VMware has engaged a number of our technology vendors to form an alliance including Citrix, Sun and Wyse Technology. Citrix delivers virtualised applications and desktops,” he said.

ItX will only be distributing VMware's, however Newham said itX would be more than "happy to distribute the whole range of VMware's product".

Currently VMware distributes its 'mainstream products' through Ingram Micro.
