Provision Networks, a global provider of application delivery and access infrastructure solutions for the Microsoft Windows Terminal Server platform, today unveiled the Virtual Access Suite (VAS), an end-to-end solution for the VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
The Provision Networks Virtual Access Suite is a comprehensive framework that leverages the VMware Virtual Infrastructure to transform the physical desktop computer and its applications into on-demand virtual services. More than a traditional connection broker, VAS empowers a hosted desktop infrastructure with extensive VM management and monitoring capabilities, as well as a complete enterprise access and application delivery solution.
"The VMware VDI initiative has been widely received as a paradigm shift in the way desktops and applications are provisioned, deployed and accessed," said Paul Ghostine, Co-Founder and CEO of Provision Networks. "Our Virtual Access Suite brings to market a complete enterprise solution meant to be the only set of VDI building blocks needed to transform the hosted desktop into enterprise reality."
The Provision Networks Virtual Access Suite encompasses:
* Virtual Access Broker: Highly scalable service responsible for VM pool
management, status monitoring, fault management, policy enforcement,
and client connectivity arbitration.
* Enhanced End-User Experience and Last-Mile Features: Full-desktop and
application publishing, seamless windows, up to 4096X2048 screen
resolutions, multi-monitor support, single sign-on, smartcard
authentication, USB handheld redirection, user profile management, and
universal print driver
* Access Infrastructure: Sophisticated access portal including the Web
interface and SSL gateway, enabling any PC or thin client to securely
connect and access a VAS-enabled Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
* End Point Computing: On-demand access to VDI-based published desktops
and applications using a Web browser or the AppPortal client, including
the AppPortal desktop-integrated mode in which application shortcuts
are automatically propagated to the user's local desktop
The VAS feature set includes:
* Highly scalable broker service offering fine-grained, policy-driven VM
pool management capabilities including VM creation, deletion,
suspension, un-suspension, power-on, power-off, expiration, and access
control.
* Management and monitoring features including full-desktop and
application publishing, VM status reporting, and session usage
monitoring.
* Fault management allowing users to be temporarily redirected to a free
VM in the event that of a primary VM failure.
* Fine-grained access control via Access Control Lists (ACL) and virtual
channel policies.
* Access infrastructure including a Web interface and SSL VPN.
* Client connectivity options including RDP and RDP-over-SSL, and client
device support including Windows, WinCE, Java, and PXE.
* Extensive user experience and last-mile technologies including seamless
windows, session sharing, Kerberos authentication, universal print
driver, USB handheld redirection, and more.
