AGAMBS Introduces a New Virtualisation Service

AGAMBS, one of the world's leading independent EMC Documentum consultancies, has introduced a new virtualisation service. It will enable organisations operating large document repositories to replicate multi-server applications in a single virtual environment that delivers significant performance improvements and reduces hardware and support costs by around 50%.

High Wycombe, UK, October 22, 2006 -- AGAMBS, one of the world's leading independent EMC Documentum consultancies, has introduced a new virtualisation service. It will enable organisations operating large document repositories to replicate multi-server applications in a single virtual environment that delivers significant performance improvements and reduces hardware and support costs by around 50%.

"With virtualisation technology now being production ready, AGAMBS can deliver improvements to business processes without requiring traditional multi-server architectures," commented Andrew McCabe, CEO of AGAMBS. "It will enable organisations to optimise their usage of available server, storage and network capacity whilst simplifying the whole infrastructure. This will increase IT effectiveness and significantly reduce business costs."

AGAMBS uses virtualisation to replace or integrate with existing multiple application servers and create a highly flexible and dynamic IT infrastructure. Hardware resources are aggregated into logical resource pools and optimally allocated to applications running in virtual machines. In this virtual environment, resources can be dynamically assigned or reassigned to individual workloads without impacting end user services.

"Virtualisation reduces physical complexity in IT networks and improves performance, response time, backup, recovery and security," continued Andrew McCabe. "It also reduces the cost and risk involved in new application developments and gives greater consistency and stability of the underlying software environment."

Virtualisation allows multiple virtual machines, each with its own instance of virtual hardware and operating system, to run in isolation, side-by-side on the same physical machine. It resolves all the problems associated with the underutilisation, escalating management costs and vulnerability of traditional multiple server environments. It also provides advanced business continuity protection at lower cost and delivers high availability for critical applications.

The requirement for hardware support is reduced as all applications that previously required separate servers are consolidated into a more flexible environment. This reduces outages such as hardware failures as well as reducing the requirement for network cabling. It also delivers higher levels of availability to users as configuration changes can be seamlessly and transparently carried out with less downtime. Further savings can be achieved as power requirements and heat output are both reduced.

Being encapsulated into files, it is possible to rapidly save, copy and provision a virtual machine whilst full systems can be moved in seconds from one physical server to another for zero-downtime maintenance and continuous workload consolidation. AGAMBS will also be able to build, load test and tune configurations offsite prior to deployment as well as enabling additional configurations to be quickly cloned for added resilience and the elimination of single points of failure.

"Any EMC Documentum user who is experiencing performance problems, running end of life hardware or facing major upgrades to avoid loss of support can derive significant benefits through virtualisation. AGAMBS can deliver business driven document management solutions on a global scale with a unique range of core skills relating to EMC Documentum including specialist database, operating system and application server expertise," concluded Andrew McCabe.

AGAMBS is exhibiting at the forthcoming Momentum 2006 conference being held in Rome from 23rd to 26th October—booth number 31. During this event, Andrew McCabe will be presenting a paper that addresses the importance of ensuring business continuity is supported in any EMC Documentum solution.

AGAMBS is one of the world's leading independent consultancies specialising in helping organisations to better leverage their investment in EMC Documentum software. The company specialises in putting information at the fingertips of users in the shortest possible time through optimising the performance of enterprise content management systems. This can result in significant organisation-wide productivity improvements.
