uXcomm Introduces Specialized Editions of XManage
uXcomm, the leading provider of systems management platforms for device and software system manufacturers, today introduced specialized editions of its XManage product to help customers reduce development cycles and deliver highly differentiated products. XManage Server Edition and XManage Information Appliance Edition are the first in a series of pre-integrated and standards-based offerings that deliver commonly-used management functionality so that server and network appliance manufacturers can bring specialized and manageable products to market in record time.

XManage Server Edition enabled us to develop a systems management solution for our BladeRunner server line at a fraction of the cost and time than anything we could have built from scratch," said Bob Monkman, director of software product management and business development at Penguin Computing. "The modular nature of XManage Server Edition allows us to quickly and easily deploy the features our customers require now and in the future."

Built on uXcomms Service-Oriented Management Architecture or SOMA (see accompanying release), the XManage Server Edition makes it easy for companies such as Dell, Intel, and Penguin Computing to integrate systems management functionality within X86 blade and rack dense servers. Manufacturers can leverage uXcomms pre-integrated software services to manage 1000s of their servers from a single Web-based console. Additionally, XManage Server Edition includes bundled services for remote discovery, provisioning and monitoring. Unlike other systems management solutions, XManage Server Edition supports hardware and software products from any vendor, and all the standard management interfaces, including SNMP, IPMI, WS-MAN, and CIM-XML.

The XManage Information Appliance Edition embeds intelligent network management directly into any server, storage, network or software appliance. With support for XenSources popular Xen Hypervisor and major versions of Linux, XManage Information Appliance Edition allows network vendors like Cisco, Nortel, and Juniper Networks to integrate open source technologies directly into their solutions and provide automatic installation, configuration, and control. These embedded management capabilities enable software upgrades to be completed dynamically over the network and devices to proactively generate alerts that plug into any third party management application or framework a customer has installed.

The new Editions will help server and information appliance manufacturers add advanced systems management capabilities into their product lines faster and for less investment than anything they could do themselves, said Bob Van Steenberg, CEO of uXcomm. "In 2007, we will announce additional specialized editions to the XManage product family to help our growing global customer base meet the systems management needs of their customers.
