Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing today announced two new "Thin Computing Pilot in a Box" kits enabling users to evaluate the benefits of shared and terminal services as well as full-function OS and application streaming. These kits provide users with items they need, including key hardware and software components to test and quickly assess how thin computing solutions will bring a greater ROI and flexibility to their existing IT environments.
Wyse has now introduced three kits -- Pilot in a Box for Full-Function Streaming, Pilot in a Box for Shared and Terminal Services, and Pilot in a Box for Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (EDV) -- which, are all available immediately for an estimated customer price of $9,995. Each kit provides thin computing hardware, software licenses and onsite consulting.
"Our pilot in a box kits take the guesswork out of deploying thin computing architectures and solutions," said Mike Brunner, director of worldwide channel sales and marketing for Wyse. "Our channel partners now have the tools they need to quickly demonstrate how thin computing works and can leverage the hottest architectures: desktop virtualization, OS and application streaming and shared/terminal services. These kits make it easy to build a business case on why thin computing makes sense without incurring too much risk."
The three Wyse Thin Computing Pilot in a Box kits deliver the following:
- The Wyse full function streaming Pilot in a Box includes Wyse Streaming Manager to deliver in real-time the OS and applications to the desktop, be it a stateless thin client or PC. Applications run on the desktop. This architecture simplifies the management, maintenance, and licensing of applications and operating systems across the entire enterprise. It allows the IT department to centrally manage and maintain every desktop centrally while delivering previously unattainable desktop functionality.
- Wyse Shared/Terminal Services Pilot in a Box works with environments that virtualize applications on a central server or server farm, sending screens out to the desktops. This makes it appear as though everything were executed locally -- in real-time. Wyse Shared/Terminal Services supports multi-user systems such as Citrix Presentation Server, Microsoft Terminal Services, and Sun Secure Global Desktop.
- Wyse Enterprise Desktop Virtualization Pilot in a Box extends the popular server virtualization concept to virtualization of user's desktops. Using technology from VMware, Citrix and others, this approach delivers centralized execution and simplicity of administration while providing users with the individual operating system and applications expected from desktop and PC users.
