It seems as though VMware is attempting to make their licensing a little bit easier.  No, the way they license the product isn't changing, but they have added an online server-based licensing file checker.  Currently, it only works with the server-based licensing, so if you are using host-based licensing - this won't help you.  So what does it do?

According to VMware, "This tool will take a pasted license file and parse, reformat, and attempt to repair it. It will also give you statistics regarding the total number of licenses found and highlight inconsistencies that could potentially cause issues."
