VMware Adds Support for StorageCraft Backup Files to Its Migration Tool
StorageCraft Technology Corporation, a provider of innovative disk-based backup, disaster recovery, data protection, migration and security solutions for servers, desktops and laptops, today announced VMware is including support for StorageCraft technology in VMware Converter 3.0.1.

VMware is including support for StorageCraft ShadowProtect™ image files in VMware Converter 3.0.1 to allow conversion of an existing physical system to a virtual system (P2V). Administrators can use VMware Converter 3.0.1 and existing StorageCraft backup image files to restore systems in a virtual environment.

VMware Converter is a tool which quickly converts Windows-based physical machines into VMware virtual machines. The inclusion of StorageCraft ShadowProtect support in VMware Converter 3.0.1 is part of a partnership agreement announced earlier this year between StorageCraft Technology Corporation and VMware, the global leader in software for industry-standard virtualized desktops and servers.

"As the virtualization leader, VMware is a logical partner for StorageCraft," said Scott Barnes, chief technology officer at StorageCraft. "Adding support for StorageCraft ShadowProtect images to VMware Converter will greatly simplify the migration process for StorageCraft customers."
