Server virtualization firm, SWsoft's Virtuozzo, was cited as the fastest growing, among all vendors in the overall market for virtualization technology, in an IDC industry analyst report. In addition, the virtualization market is expected to grow to $15 billion worldwide by 2009, according to IDC.

SWsoft products include Virtuozzo operating system server virtualization software, which delivers low overhead and high performance by taking a completely different technology approach from VMware hardware virtualization. Virtuozzo operating system server virtualization also provides control over operating system and software sprawl (in addition to server sprawl). According to the company, this approach simplifies managing software patches, updates, and maintenance, which are are done once and propagated across virtual environments. These are all reasons hosting companies select Virtuozzo for Virtual Private Server offerings.

These are all part of the OPEN FUSION technology platform initiative to advance integration with third-party applications. The SWsoft software products help automate a large number of tasks that allow service providers to reduce operating costs while increasing efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.

Virtuozzo was also cited in a Gartner industry analyst report discussing new technology for data centers in November, which stated: "By 2010, shared operating system (OS) virtualization will become mainstream." SWsoft Virtuozzo is one example of operating system (OS)-level server virtualization technology cited in the report.
