uXcomm, a leading provider of software products that manage solutions for virtualization platforms, today announced that it has changed its name to Virtugo Software, raised $4 million in new funding and has appointed Ashmeet Sidana, a former VMware executive and partner at Foundation Capital, to its Board of Directors. Proceeds of this round, coupled with the counsel of one of the world's leading experts on server virtualization issues, will help solidify the company's position as the world's leading provider of virtualization management solutions.
"The name change from uXcomm to Virtugo Software is a reflection of the traction we've experienced in the marketplace for virtualization technologies especially when combined with the XManage products suite," said Chris Dickson, VP of marketing for Virtugo Software. "The success of Virtugo's popular products and its rapid adoption by customers like AMTRAK and QUALCOMM as well as leading resellers is a strong testament to the company's technology vision to date. Over the next few years, we will take advantage of Ashmeet's experience and technology vision and expand our product offerings and their presence in the market."
Mr. Sidana is a partner at Foundation Capital, a venture capital firm committed to early stage company building within the enterprise software market place. Before joining Foundation Capital, Mr. Sidana was at VMware where he was responsible for multiple products including Virtual SMP, P2V and their flagship product: VMware's ESX Server. With over 15 years of experience in Silicon Valley, including CEO at Sidana Systems, and leadership roles at Hewlett-Packard and Silicon Graphics, Mr. Sidana brings a broad perspective on enterprise software and creating category leading companies.
"Virtugo Software uniquely unifies both the virtual and physical environments into one common management framework," said Ashmeet Sidana, partner at Foundation Capital and Virtugo Software Board member. "With my experience helping grow VMware's ESX Server product, I look forward to bringing Virtugo Software's product line to the forefront of virtualization management."
"We are delighted to have Ashmeet lend his acumen to the momentum the Virtugo Software product line is gaining in the marketplace today," said Dave Chen, a Virtugo Software Board member and partner at OVP Venture Partners (OVP). "Ashmeet's wealth of industry experience at VMware and exceptional track record identifying and developing leading-edge technologies and growing successful businesses will be indispensable as Virtugo begins to solidify itself in the virtualization management space."
The company secured $4 million in financing from Foundation Capital, early-stage venture capital firm, OVP Venture Partners (OVP), and a private investor. Proceeds of this round will be used to further product development, increase sales and marketing activities, and expand global operations.
