EqualLogic Wins SAN Product of the Year
EqualLogic®, a leading provider of enterprise-class iSCSI storage area network (SAN) solutions, has been awarded SAN Product of the Year at the Techworld Awards 2007 for the PS3800XV storage array. EqualLogic was voted winner in its category by a judging panel made up of IT industry experts and Techworld editors who evaluated the PS3800XV on the criteria of strategy, creativity, innovation and effectiveness.

The PS3800XV, launched in September 2006, was one of the first iSCSI storage arrays on the market to feature Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) disks, which deliver exceptional performance for high-intensity applications. The PS3800XV suits any business that needs an enterprise-class, low-maintenance solution to meet its storage needs.

The PS3800XV offers IT professionals comprehensive storage management tools, the majority of which are automated and require no user intervention. Features such as load-balancing, snapshots, replication, and thin provisioning are included in the list price of the array.

“EqualLogic is committed to providing companies with advanced storage functionality without compromising cost or performance no matter their industry or size,” said Paul Klinkby-Silver, vice president, Europe for EqualLogic. “Our goal with the introduction of a SAS-based storage array was to bring a new level of performance to the iSCSI market, and we’re very pleased with the recognition of the PS3800XV as the leading SAN in the industry based on its criteria of being a strategic and innovative product.”

The Techworld Awards recognise and reward the very highest standards of individual and collective achievement. The unique blend of awards for products, networking teams and individuals recognise both sides of the industry – the product vendors as well as the network managers and teams who implement the solutions. This award was accepted by EqualLogic at a gala dinner on 27th June 2007 at Gibson Hall in London.

“Councils across the UK have a requirement for flexible, scalable storage that can serve as a foundation for overall virtualisation initiatives; EqualLogic’s SAN solutions meet these requirements while delivering higher value and more efficient processes than traditional methods of storage,” said Nick Dunn, UK sales director for EqualLogic. “By combining VMware VI3 and a PS Series SAN, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council now has a virtualised infrastructure platform in place that can dynamically grow to meet the demands of its staff and citizens.”
