Virtualization Seminar with Burton Group's Chris Wolf

If you are trying to find out more about server virtualization in the enterprise, someone I highly recommend listening to is Chris Wolf from the Burton Group.  Chris will be hosting a virtualization seminar in Scottsdale, Arizona on October 4.  Seating is limited.  So if you are in the area, sign up quick!  This should prove to be a worthwhile use of your time.  If you don't leave there having learned something new, you should be presenting yourself, you weren't listening, or you were in the wrong room!  :)

Details from Chris' Web site show the following:

Server Virtualization in the Enterprise: A to Z

Description: This intense 1 day workshop examines server virtualization from the ground up. 2007 marked the year that the majority of enterprises were already running virtual machines in production or had plans to do so. Far from an introduction, this seminar will delve into the technical and organizational elements that drive successful virtualization deployments. Key planning and migration challenges are addressed, with insights and examples regarding how to overcome the most difficult planning and deployment challenges. Organizations are faced with numerous virtualization planning considerations, including hardware platform selection, virtualization platform selection, VM placement, VM migration, storage and SAN integration, as well as data protection and recovery. Attendees will leave this workshop with knowledge of proven approaches toward virtualization success as well as techniques for effectively managing and protecting virtualized resources in enterprise environments.

This in-depth one-day workshop covers topics including:

  • Evaluation strategies and insight into all major server virtualization platforms, including VMware, Microsoft, XenSource, Virtual Iron, Red Hat, Novell, Sun, and SWsoft
  • Methodologies and tools to successfully plan for virtualization migrations
  • Methodologies and tools to successfully migrate to a virtualized environment
  • Virtual machine data protection and recovery
  • Disaster recovery planning
  • Performance tuning and optimization
  • Advanced management and scripting

If you are interested in attending, you can register online at http://www.burtongroupinstitute.com/Scottsdale/. Seats are limited to 50 participants, so it should be a pretty good seminar with plenty of time for Q&A.
