Verari Systems Boosts Performance of Energy Efficient Servers with Quad-Core AMD Opteron Processors
Verari Systems®, developer of platform-independent blade-based computing and storage solutions, today announced that its BladeRack® 2 blade server platform and RM series of rackmount servers will now support AMD's new Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor. The latest AMD processors are an addition to Veraris highly scalable systems designed to be upgradeable to the newest technology for enterprise customers seeking higher levels of performance-per-dollar and performance-per-watt.

With its unrivaled power efficiency and computing density, our environmentally responsible architecture and patented Vertical Cooling Technology has been enabling the green data center for years, said David B. Wright, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Verari Systems. The addition of Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors to our line-up is providing our customers with the ability to increase overall performance while optimizing energy consumption.

Built on AMDs revolutionary Direct Connect Architecture which reduces bottlenecks inherent in traditional front-side bus architectures, AMDs native quad-core processors can improve performance in the same socket and thermal envelopes as previous AMD Opteron processors to increase the productivity of servers without increasing power consumption. Integrated across Verari's broad, thermally efficient line of servers, customers benefit from reliable and scalable density, performance and capacity in an integrated solution.

The combination of Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors and Veraris industry-leading technology delivers a whole new level of value for customers seeking more powerful servers while continuing to focus on energy consumption in the data center, said Randy Allen, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Server/Workstation Division, AMD (NYSE:AMD). The dynamic power management and advanced performance-per-watt capabilities of Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors will enable Veraris customers to realize the power of quad-core computing while continuing Veraris strong history of developing eco-friendly solutions.

Our customers look to us to deliver world-class digital effects and our close relationship with Verari Systems and AMD allows us to be on the cutting-edge, said Kevin Clark, Director of IT Operations, LucasFilm, Ltd. We are looking forward to upgrading our energy-efficient blade server technology from Verari to incorporate the new Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors in order to reach our goals of increased performance and efficiency in our data center.

To leverage the new performance capabilities of Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors, many customers are moving to virtualization solutions that can run multiple applications per server. Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors with AMD Virtualization technology and AMDs Rapid Virtualization Indexing are designed to reduce the overhead penalty associated with virtualization technologies. Veraris BladeRack 2 Series product line offers a compelling solution for next-generation IT infrastructures seeking to improve operational efficiency and makes an ideal platform for a higher performing, more flexible IT environment.
