CommVault and Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions Deliver Mid-Market Solutions
CommVault and the Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) unit of Arrow Electronics, Inc. today announced an agreement to offer multiple new archive software bundles. Providing customers tailored solutions that offer operational efficiencies, regulatory compliance, cost savings and increased data availability, the turnkey mid-size enterprise (MSE) solutions combine modules from the CommVault Simpana 7.0 software suite with HP storage hardware and are designed to better serve Arrow ECS reseller partners seeking to enter the mid-market.

Faced with many of the same challenges as large enterprises, MSE customers, including those in the healthcare, financial services and telecommunications industries, require real-time, around-the-clock access to business-critical data and applications, said Ron Miller, CommVaults vice president of North American sales. By shifting the focus to selling solutions rather than just selling products, the CommVault and HP bundles will make it easier for our channel partners to offer simplified, affordable business solutions designed specifically for midsize customers. Were excited to see our partnership with Arrow ECS grow and are committed to providing the MSE with solutions that give them control over data growth, costs and risk.

According to Kevin Gilroy, president of Arrow ECS, Arrow ECS is creating a robust mid-market offering for our partners, and we are committed to leveraging our relationships with the worlds leading hardware, software and storage suppliers to provide solutions to best meet the needs of all of our partners. These solutions bring the power of HP and CommVault together for our partners, enabling them to serve the needs of mid-market companies and provide accelerated access to HP for our CommVault partners and vice versa.

The new bundles are designed to ease the deployment of solutions for key business challenges, including tiered archive, e-mail archive for compliance and e-discovery, green storage and business continuity within an HP storage environment. Not simply light-duty versions of enterprise solutions, the bundles provide enterprise-class capabilities at a scale and price point appropriate for mid-market customers. Each bundle is designed to minimize complexity, overhead and cost by leveraging CommVaults singular platform approach and HPs ability to expand and scale storage lines.

The new bundles include:

  • Tiered archive A tiered storage architecture helps control storage costs and simplifies data management by optimizing storage tiers. CommVault Archive software for Windows, Unix, Netware and Linux file systems and messaging has been paired with an HP EVA SAN starter kit and EML tape library for use in storing files, e-mail and documents. Designed as a complete solution, the bundle can drop into virtually any environment to control the growth and cost of primary storage. Add-on packs for controlling storage growth of Exchange, Lotus Domino and SharePoint are also offered.
  • Compliance/e-discovery Using CommVault Archive for Exchange and Lotus Domino in combination with HP scalable storage, partners can help their customers move compliance data from primary storage to secondary storage. The data is fully indexed and retained for periods of time as determined by preset policies. Featuring a new search interface, CommVault software offers the ability to access all electronically stored information, including e-mail, in the event of an e-discovery request. An add-on pack for indexing SharePoint documents for e-discovery is also offered.
  • Go Green Kit For organizations that want to accelerate their use of VMware capabilities for data management, the Go Green Kit offers all of the CommVault software components along with HP SAN equipment to set up and deploy VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) configurations for data management. VCB configurations present storage resources as a single pool of data in a shared storage system, thus reducing the number of storage devices needed. This reduces the amount of power required, the heat produced and the operational and administrative costs of backup and archival storage.
  • Business Continuity Offering two bundles focused on business continuity, customers can deploy CommVaults Continuous Data Replication (CDR) modules for remote offices in conjunction with HPs EVA mid-tier storage systems array. These solutions offer simplified, lower-cost remote office data management and eliminate the need for tape management in remote environments. CommVault Archive software is also provided to reduce the amount of network bandwidth required during replication over networks.

Included in the bundles is CommVaults Common Technology Engine, which is available to Arrow ECS HP resellers for the first time and enables customers to establish a foundation for data movement and management, as well as seamlessly deploy any CommVault Simpana software module. The CommVault and HP bundles, available to partners either purchasing an HP hardware infrastructure or CommVault Simpana software, also include CommVault encryption and reporting tools, as well as single pane-of-glass control to simplify the management of IT storage environments.

With this announcement, CommVault continues to reinforce its commitment to the channel by aligning itself more closely with the needs of its channel partners and their customers. CommVault complements Arrow ECS HP storage hardware line, enabling Arrow ECS to support its reseller community with the components of a larger solution that address customers myriad business needs. The bundles provide Arrow ECS HP partner community with both specialized mid-tier archive solutions and access to CommVaults Simpana suite of data and information management software. In addition to the bundles, Arrow ECS will provide demand creation activities, targeted solutions marketing and lead generation to its joint CommVault and HP partners.

The existing agreement between CommVault and Arrow ECS covers North American commercial and public-sector markets and initially designates Arrow ECS as the exclusive value-added distributor for CommVaults full suite of award-winning enterprise data management products and services. CommVault partnered with Arrow ECS in March 2007 to manage CommVaults commercial channel program and has since been expanding its channel strategy with assistance from Arrow ECS.
