XenSource, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class virtualization solutions based on the open source Xen® hypervisor, today announced that ASIERUS™ Inc., a leader in outsourced network management and information technology (IT) support services, has chosen XenSource as the foundation for the company’s new virtualized business model called OFFICE AnyWare™. ASIERUS has signed a deal to immediately deploy thousands of virtual machines using XenEnterprise™, enabling the company to offer all of their customers, enterprise-class, best-of-breed network infrastructure technologies and support.
“We needed a high performance solution so that we could use to completely virtualize IT, from hardware and software all the way to accessibility and support,” said Jeremy Simmons, founder and CEO of ASIERUS. “XenSource will enable us to create an innovative, high-performance virtual infrastructure so we can completely control our customer’s experience and provide a cost-effective consolidation solution that enables IT to act at the speed of business.”
ASIERUS researched and assessed virtualization technologies for two years before recently selecting XenSource. Initially, the company evaluated VMware’s offering, but when XenEnterprise v4 was introduced in August 2007, and offered a more cost-effective, high-performance technology that offered the scalability and mobility capabilities required by ASIERUS, they immediately decided to switch to XenSource. Looking forward, ASIERUS anticipates introducing new product offerings that leverage XenEnterprise, and expects to expand its data center by adding thousands of new virtual machines per year.
“The XenSource virtualization platform allows our customers and our support team the agility and scalability to immediately increase or decrease network resources as required, almost in real-time, ”said Jeff Goodey, co-founder and CTO of ASIERUS. “XenEnterprise allows us to assign or reassign network resources at the click of a mouse or fix a problem on a customer’s virtual desktop while they’re still working. OFFICE AnyWare virtually eliminates downtime for our customers, and XenEnterprise provides a level of business and data continuity that wasn’t possible before.”
ASIERUS currently serves more than 300 businesses and government municipalities nationwide, with customers needing to manage IT for 20 to 750 or more workers. ASIERUS’ OFFICE AnyWare offering was introduced earlier this month, and will be powered by a XenEnterprise-based virtualized infrastructure. The new offering includes, OFFICE AnyWare™, ACCESS AnyWare™, SECURE AnyWare™, and SUPPORT AnyWare™, allowing small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to outsource and virtualize their entire network infrastructure and internal support for data storage, server, and desktop services (SANS2Server2Desktop™).
“ASIERUS’ flexible, on-demand model of computing complements the XenSource drive for ubiquity,” said Rafael Santini, VP of sales for XenSource. “As a forerunner of virtual network managed services, ASIERUS and OFFICE AnyWare is proof of XenSource’s scalability and enterprise-level performance.”
