Solarflare Communications, the leader in 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) silicon, today announced that it will demonstrate standards-based 10GBASE-T technology over copper Category 6A cabling for the next edition of Microsoft Windows Server code-named
“Longhorn
” during IDF TAIPEI, October 15-16. Additionally, Solarflare will showcase its high-performance Solarstorm
™ vNIC controller supporting line rate 10GbE.
These demonstrations highlight Solarflare’s Solarstorm Ethernet Controller technology delivering the highest level of Ethernet performance per watt with 9.9Gbps at 2 watts. Coupled with Solarflare’s 10Xpress® 10GBASE-T PHY reaching over 100 meters on UTP copper cabling, next level networking solutions, such as Microsoft Windows Server Longhorn and virtualization, are now able to take advantage of 10 Gigabit performance without compromise.
“The combination of our Solarstorm controller and 10Xpress PHY enables server OEM customers to bring to market cost-effective and power-efficient network adapters,” said Bruce Tolley, vice president of marketing at Solarflare. “Our high-performance demonstrations show that 10 Gigabit Ethernet is ready to provide data centers and enterprises with the next level of networking for next-generation technologies, such as rich-media streaming and other Web 2.0 applications, server virtualization and network convergence.”
