Virtualization Technology News and Information
1105 Media, Inc. Forms the Virtualization Media Group

All I can say is welcome to the party!  I'm sure there will be plenty more people coming to the realization that a virtualization specific magazine is a pretty good idea.

1105 Media, Inc. today launched a new business unit focused on virtualization technologies, products, news, and solutions. The Virtualization Media Group (VMG) will include a monthly print magazine, Virtualization Review, with an initial distribution of 40,000 readers, a Web site, newsletter, and an industry event. VMG will fall under the 1105 Enterprise Computing Group (ECG), which also houses the award-winning Redmond Media Group.

The virtualization market is exploding and there is now a fully formed industry with hundreds of vendors including large companies such as VMware Inc., Cisco Systems Inc., Microsoft Corp., Sun Microsystems Inc., IBM Corp. and Citrix Systems Inc., plus a host of exciting startups that are driving the technology forward.

Virtualization is a way to make all aspects of IT vastly more efficient. This concept can apply to PCs, servers, storage, applications networking and even I/O, explains Doug Barney, editor in chief and editorial founder of Virtualization Review.

Virtualization Review Editor Keith Ward adds, Virtualization happens in two main phases. The first phase is when IT adopts fundamental virtual technologies. Once in place, IT looks to truly exploit virtualization, manage it as they have any other IT asset, and then apply virtualization to new areas of IT as part of a total transformation strategy. Virtualization Review is crucial to helping IT in both phases.

The expected launch date of Virtualization Review is March of 2008 with additional issues planned for May and July. The book is scheduled to transition to a monthly format with the August issue. Readership will be senior-level IT management and C-suite executives. Readers will also include senior-level system administrators, who in many ways are key decision drivers when implementing leading-edge business technologies. Overall circulation will focus on large organizations, which have adopted virtualization more aggressively than small and medium-size businesses. The Web site is currently under construction and will be online early in the first quarter of 2008. The event is scheduled for the fall of 2008.

We are fully committed to this marketplace, says Group President Henry Allain. We have a tremendous track record when it comes to innovation and launching new products and we feel that the Virtualization Media Group will be a key asset for 1105 Media in the future.

The new line of media properties is a clear signal of 1105 Medias ambitions and plans for expansion. 1105 Media has always been about trying new things and entering new markets. Virtualization is a perfect opportunity to build an integrated set of print, online, and event offerings, says Vice President of Publishing Matt Morollo. We expect to help vendors both large and small reach key buyers in the fast growing virtualization industry.

Adds Neal Vitale, president and CEO of 1105 Media, Being nimble and action-oriented is key to our overall strategy. It is very rewarding to see 1105 be able to create the Virtualization Media Group and launch a suite of products to capitalize on an emerging market opportunity.
