Hewlett Packard has launched three thin clients, including the company's first mobile thin client and two desktop products. The offerings are the first products to come out of its October 2007 acquisition of hardware firm Neoware.
The HP Compaq 6720t mobile offering runs on Windows XP, with no hard drive, fan, or other moving parts, and supports Wi-Fi-powered wireless LAN and has 3G broadband wireless capabilities. The two new desktops are the HP Compaq t5730, which runs on Windows XP, and HP Compaq t5735, which runs on Debian Linux.
Tad Bodeman, director of the blade PC and thin clients group at HP, said: "We're combining the most powerful processing and graphics capability with HP's remote graphics software, so we're able to deliver a stellar rich media experience, which has been one of the challenges for desktop replacement alternatives."
The desktop thin clients will be available for $450 to $500, while the mobile thin client will be available for $725.
