Catbird Announces V-Security Beta for Citrix XenServer
Catbird, provider of the only fully-hosted, enterprise-class, managed security platform for virtual and physical networks, and developer of the V-Agent virtual appliance, today announced the beta release of its award-winning V-Security virtual infrastructure security for Citrix XenServer. The Catbird V-Agent for Citrix XenServer is available through Catbirds authorized partners.

Catbirds V-Security is the industrys first best-practices, broad-based security solution specifically designed to guard against unauthorized access to the virtual network used by the virtual infrastructure platform, preventing attacks on both the hypervisor and guest virtual machines. Delivering continuous, automated 24x7 monitoring focused on precise guest OS vulnerabilities and known attack signatures, Catbirds V-Security is the only service to proactively and comprehensively secure a virtualization deployment. In addition, Catbirds V-Security for Citrix XenServer validates, verifies and enforces corporate security policy; monitors regulatory compliance of the virtual infrastructure; and controls virtual server sprawl.

With Catbird V-Security, XenServer customers can now implement security best-practices on their virtual infrastructure," said Edmundo Costa, Catbird COO. "Catbird is excited to work with Citrix and its channel on this critical advancement. Together, we will bring assurance to our customers that their security requirements are addressed right from the design phase and architected into all XenServer mission-critical deployments.

Catbirds V-Security for Citrix XenServer is a welcome complement to the XenServer product line, said Barry Davis, vice president, Corporate Development, for Citrix Systems. Complementing the superior security architecture of XenServer itself, our partners will also be able to offer a product that extends enterprise-class security to guest virtual machines based on a detailed understanding of the threat profile of each guest OS. Enterprise customers can now extend the same level of protection to their virtual and physical infrastructures.

Catbirds V-Security is a fully-automated and comprehensive Security-As-A-Service for virtual and physical networks. Unlike conventional host-based solutions, stateful appliances and proprietary hardware solutions, Catbirds unique, stateless architecture is 100% plug-and-play. Via the groundbreaking Catbird V-Agent virtual appliance, protection is delivered within the virtual network. Monitoring from the inside yields significantly more effective coverage and eliminates the need to reroute traffic onto the physical network for validation. Catbird V-Securitys coverage includes rogue virtual-device monitoring; Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS); policy compliance; and vulnerability monitoring to servers running multiple virtual machines.

The V-Agent is free and may be instantly downloaded and deployed on any virtual network. Catbirds V-Security is available from any authorized Catbird partner. For more information about V-Security and Catbirds full line of stateless enterprise-grade in-the-cloud security solutions, visit the companys Web site at www.catbird.com.
