Opalis Software Announces Record Results for 2007 to Confirm Leadership in the IT Process Automation Market
Opalis Software Inc., the market leader in IT process automation software, today announced completion of the best ever fourth quarter for the company and a strong 2007, marking a record year for growth and worldwide customer adoption of the award-winning Opalis Integration Server solution. Opalis experienced consecutive triple-digit growth over the last two quarters of 2007, and a more than 100 percent increase in bookings for the fourth quarter over the same quarter in 2006. Additionally, Opalis saw its customer pipeline grow by more than 130 percent in 2007.

2007 was an extraordinary year for Opalis, said Todd DeLaughter, CEO and president for Opalis Software. The strong quarter, year-end results, and industry award recognition clearly demonstrate our leadership position in the red hot IT process automation market. With proven solutions and successful worldwide customer implementations, we have demonstrated incredible time to value for enterprises looking to improve IT efficiency and business agility across their heterogeneous systems management landscape. The market activity, especially over the second half of 2007, has validated our strategy to remain an independent best-of-breed vendor. We have seen an acceleration in enterprise-wide adoption by Global 2000 companies. Forrester estimates a market size of more than $600M over the next 5 years (Tech Horizons: Sizing The Emerging Market for IT Process Automation Software, by Jean-Pierre Garbani, November 19, 2007) so the potential for continued growth in our business is huge, continued DeLaughter.

Opalis delivers unique, out-of-the-box solutions that enable IT process automation inside and outside the data center for key IT initiatives across heterogeneous IT ecosystems. The Opalis solution automates workflow processes around critical IT initiatives, such as virtualization, provisioning, ITIL, disaster recovery, consolidation, and security. Through seamless integration with leading systems management tools from vendors including BladeLogic, Microsoft, IBM, VMware, CA, EMC, BMC Software, and HP Software, Opalis provides the integration bridge that allows IT management to orchestrate intelligent automation throughout the data center.

With Opalis, enterprises can quickly realize the benefits of IT process automation, driving down management costs and increasing productivity, while enforcing compliant best practices aimed at improving performance and availability of critical business applications.

Exploding Customer Adoption

Opalis added dozens of organizations to its worldwide customer roster in 2007, bringing the total number of supported customers to over 450, including enterprises such as Accenture, Interpolis, Reuters, and Woolworths. Customers achieved immediate time to value and reaped the benefits of easy implementation, heterogeneous integration, comprehensive reports and dashboards, and the ability to quickly scale to meet rapidly changing enterprise needs.

This past year has seen the IT process automation market mature into a must-have foundational plank for enterprises that want to control costs and improve IT efficiency, said Richard Ptak, principal of Ptak-Noel & Associates. Automation has become a vital tool for enforcing best practices in IT operations. In the IT process automation category, Opalis has solidified themselves as the leading independent vendor in this industry with its proven, scalable and mature offering, and will no doubt continue to remain strong in 2008.

Technology Innovations, Industry Award Recognition

Throughout the year, Opalis raised the bar with technology innovations that led the industry, including:

  • A major new release of its core Opalis Integration Server solution, which included unique capabilities for automating, integrating, and orchestrating IT processes within the data center and SOA environments.
  • New engineered integration products for BladeLogic, BMC, CA, and IBM, extending Opalis wide breadth of enterprise support of systems management tools. Opalis unique integration approach eliminates the need for scripts.
  • The industrys first process catalogs for ITIL and virtualization management, providing enterprise IT organizations with full lifecycle management of virtualized and ITIL environments to help IT control operational costs and improve service quality.

Opalis also received IT industry accolades, including the Best of Tech·Ed Award for systems management, a Best of VMworld 2007 finalist, one of the Top Ten Automation Vendors by Network Computing magazine, named a Cool Vendor by industry analyst firm Gartner and most recently, being named to the EMA analysts All-Star first team for IT Process Automation.

New Solution Center

As part of todays news, Opalis also announced the opening of a new best-in-class solution center for the development of advanced integrations, a core value to customers looking for IT process automation across the heterogeneous IT systems management software landscape. Opalis will co-locate corporate headquarters with the solution center in Toronto, Ontario.
