Can't Manage Data Growth with Current Backup Infrastructure? Try Backup Virtualization.
A December 2007 Gresham Enterprise Storage survey, How is Your Backup Treating You?, revealed the real challenges and concerns faced by over 100 storage industry professional with their current backup infrastructures.

77% stated that if they do not change their current backup infrastructure within the next year, they will not be able to manage their current growth.

73% revealed they use both tape and disk for their backup storage media.

Ed Ahl, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Gresham commented, The results highlight the fact that companies need faster backup and recovery options and better visibility and manageability of their backup infrastructures. They need a solution that keeps up with their runaway data growth, without constantly forcing them to buy additional technology which further exacerbates the issue. With 73% of respondents using disk and tape in some combination, this clearly indicates that what is needed is the capability to integrate these two components seamlessly along with any additional new technological advances.

Achieving harmony in a world where tape and disk must work together to accomplish data protection goals may seem challenging, however, a new capability to integrate these two components is available: Backup Virtualization. Greshams Clareti® Backup Virtualization Solution provides the ability to scale as data storage needs increase, simplifies the management of multiple VTL targets and petabytes of data, and with minimal interruption to current processes, Backup Virtualization provides freedom to upgrade as new and different technology become available.
