Independent Industry Analyst Examines Virtualization of Business Intelligence
Composite Software, Inc., the virtual data integration company, today announced the availability of To V or Not To V: BI Goes Virtual, a whitepaper by Claudia Imhoff, president and founder of Intelligent Solutions, a leading consultancy on customer relationship management (CRM) and business intelligence (BI) technologies and strategies. Composite Software is also the sponsor of a subsequent web seminar, co-hosted by Imhoff and Composite Software Vice President of Marketing, Robert Eve, on May 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.

The whitepaper and seminar will discuss the two most popular techniques for data integration, virtual data federation and physical data consolidation, and the technologies that support each method, enterprise information integration (EII) and extract, transfer and load (ETL). In the whitepaper, Imhoff offers eight BI examples to help implementers determine when to use each technique and technology.

In todays dynamic environment, organizations are faced with new and increasingly critical decisions that can affect their very survival, explains Imhoff in the whitepapers introduction. Decision makers are making increased demands on their BI environments to produce the right (or appropriate) data at the right time, and faster than before. Appropriate data means the combination of historical, low latency and real time data from a variety of sources that call for sophisticated data infrastructures that go way beyond simple data combinations and displays.

The web event is open to registered attendees and will explore how virtual data marts and operational data stores can provide real-time information across operational as well as historical data. Field examples of companies that have switched to virtual data integration will also be presented.

In addition, web seminar attendees will learn:

  • What issues to consider when choosing an appropriate data integration technology
  • How a virtual tool works in physical, virtual and hybrid data integration patterns
  • Who uses virtual data integration and when
  • How virtual solutions can save time and money

Register for the web seminar.

Copies of the whitepaper are available upon request from
