VMware, Inc., (NYSE:VMW), the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, today announced it placed #61 on BusinessWeek's 10
th annual InfoTech 100 ranking of tech's top performing companies. VMware, which is one of 33 US-based companies who made this year
’s list, received its ranking in its first year of eligibility as a public company.
BusinessWeek reviewed the financial results of 30,500 publicly traded companies and ranked the tech players on four criteria: shareholder return, return on equity, total revenues and revenue growth. Having surpassed the billion-dollar milestone in 2007 with revenues of $1.3 billion, VMware continues as one of the fastest-growing software companies ever, reporting 69 percent year-over-year revenue growth in the first quarter of 2008.
“In the past decade, virtualization has transformed the IT industry and VMware remains focused on simplifying how people use computers and software,” said Diane Greene, president and chief executive officer, VMware. “Many of our 100,000+ customers have moved beyond server consolidation and are using our VMware infrastructure to gain a cumulative-value effect across their datacenters and also desktops.”
