Entuity today announced general availability of Eye of the Storm
® (EYE) 2008 Service Pack 2, the newest release of its award-winning
network management suite. EYE 2008 SP2 increases the productivity of IT operations staff
– the true foot soldiers in the competitive marketplace battle
– by automating the processes used to optimize network infrastructures for business service management (BSM) initiatives that support revenue growth, lower operating costs, and reduced operational risks.
“Today’s networks must be dynamic in both configuration and architecture to support the broad range of current and developing IT solutions businesses use to drive profitability,” said Michael Jannery, president and CEO of Entuity. “With new visibility to the latest devices, client support for the latest and broadest range of operating systems, and preferred methods of flexible automation, the new functionality in EYE 2008 SP2 arms IT operations personnel with the solutions they need to not only get their job done in record time, but proactively ensure superior business service delivery.”
EYE 2008 SP2 adds support for today’s popular heterogeneous devices including the Cisco SSL Proxy module and client support on Microsoft® Windows Vista®. Eye of the Storm 2008 SP2 is available for the Microsoft Windows Server® 2003, Sun™ Solaris™, Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®, and VMware® ESX Server platforms.
EYE 2008 SP2 delivers increased productivity and unique infrastructure visibility to companies challenged with ensuring round-the-clock availability of business IT services. Additionally, it extends EYE’s leadership in providing insight, control, and predictability of the routing protocols necessary for today’s high-availability networks.
Highlights of the EYE 2008 SP2 enhancements include:
- Improved Topology Visualization and Documentation – With new functionality to add background images in the EYE Connectivity Viewer and to export maps in Microsoft® Visio® format, network managers and architects can effectively visualize and author descriptive documentation of current network topology in a geographical context. Fast, accurate, and detailed design mockups, network models, or troubleshooting diagrams can overlay geographical maps, campus or building blueprints, conceptual schematics, or any bitmap image to enhance its legibility and descriptive nature.
- Expanded Router Protocol Awareness – HSRP is the latest addition to the extensive list of routing protocols visible and centrally manageable with EYE. Unlike other network management applications, EYE automatically discovers HSRP-active routers and their peers, collects performance data, presents reports, and alerts on operational anomalies and thresholds – delivering the details and visibility needed to proactively ensure optimum operation of high-availability networks.
- Scriptable Device Renaming – This capability adds another level of flexibility in automating workflows in an approach preferred by network administrators and power users. It enhances EYE’s scriptable management approach to quickly and accurately rename devices in compliance with changes in naming policies, reorganizations, network redesigns, or corporate mergers and acquisitions.
