Embotics To Demonstrate V-Commander 2.0 and Distribute Free Virtualization Tool V-Scout at VMworld 2008 in Las Vegas

Embotics, the Virtualization Lifecycle Management™ Company, today announced it is publicly debuting its new free product Embotics V-Scout, and demonstrating its flagship product, V-Commander 2.0, at VMworld 2008 in Las Vegas.

The company is introducing its free insight tool, V-Scout, which gives VM administrators complete and thorough oversight of their virtual environment at no cost.  V-Commander 2.0, launched in June 2008, is a comprehensive policy-based management and control system for virtual machines, preventing virtual sprawl for enterprises.

What

Embotics’ newly announced V-Scout helps organizations assess and evaluate their current virtualization deployments so that they gain complete control and avoid problems such as virtual sprawl.  V-Scout, a complement to Embotics’ flagship product, V-Commander, automates data collection and replaces commonly used VM tracking spreadsheets with consistent and on demand reporting.  The product eases the process of virtualization adoption, while giving administrators a view of the quality of Embotics’ products.

Why

Organizations worldwide are experiencing the benefits of server virtualization with an increased amount of agility in the data center, resource consolidation and ultimately, a remarkable return on investment.  Companies are quickly realizing, however, that an environment with no control or oversight quickly reverses any previously seen benefits.

Controlling virtual environments is a four stage process: 1) Gather as much insight as possible into a specific implementation of virtualization, specifically how the environment is growing, how dynamic it is and who is creating or moving virtual machines; 2) Formulate the policies that you will need to control the environment; 3) Automate those policies as much as possible for both consistency and auditability; and 4) Integrate your virtual management tools with your traditional data center tools, allowing management through a single pane.

Without adequate insight, it is impossible to move to the other stages, which is why most organizations use manual tracking systems like spreadsheets.  Implementing a self-populating insight tool that helps to strategically understand the state of an environment eliminates both the manual effort and the potential for error.  V-Scout’s free automated reporting provides the insight necessary for organizations to decide on the necessary control policies.  Embotics will give away copies of V-Scout and demonstrate its flagship product V-Commander 2.0 at the show.
