VDIworks Names Amir Husain President and Chief Executive Officer
VDIworks, a virtual desktop software provider with a long history in centralized computing, today announced that Amir Husain, formerly the companys chief technology officer, has been appointed president and chief executive officer.

Husain takes his position at a time when more and more organizations, including most recently Donna Independent School District, are realizing the benefits of VDIworks solutions. Donnas decision is just one of several new VDIworks customer wins that demonstrate how VDIworks solutions deliver dramatic costs savings and management advantages through virtual desktops: thinner PC clients connected to virtual and centralized resources.

Amir Husain has been an integral part of the development of VDIworks, and he is well qualified to lead the company as it grows and solidifies its leadership position in the virtual desktop solutions market, said Mike Moniz, chairman of the VDIworks board of directors. VDIworks makes this transition at a time of strength for the company.

We are confident Amir will enhance VDIworks leadership position, continue to build customer momentum and further differentiate VDIworks product line. The market and prospects for VDIworks remain very strong, Moniz continued.

Husain will lead VDIworks marketing and sales, and he will continue to lead the product development team, a role he has held since VDIworks was founded. Prior to his position as CTO, Husain held the same title at ClearCube, a leader in centralized computing, where he had been a part of the management team since 2002.

To use a metaphor, the customer interest we are seeing today is the very tip of the iceberg of market opportunity for VDIworks, said Husain. Because VDIworks solutions are based on proven technologies in centralized computing, and because of our flexible, heterogeneous software, we are best positioned to serve the diverse needs of enterprises in many industries around the world.

Earlier in his career, Husain was a founder of Kurion, a Web services company that was acquired by iSyndicate. Amir also founded infraManage, a systems management company. He advises a number of U.S.-based technology startups and was nominated for the Austin Association of IT Professionals 2008 IT Executive of the Year award. Amir holds seven awarded patents and more than 20 pending patent applications. He has also authored numerous papers published at international conferences, high-tech magazines and in journals. He earned degrees in computer sciences from the Punjab Institute of Computer Sciences and the University of Texas at Austin.
