NetXen Announces Record 10-Gigabit Ethernet Shipments in First Half 2008, Maintains #1 Market Position in Port Shipments
NetXen, Inc., the leader in mainstream 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) server connectivity, today reported that it shipped more than 25 thousand 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports during the first half of 2008, driven by an expanding customer base and significant demand for its Intelligent NIC® silicon and board products. NetXens growth in the first half builds on momentum gained in 2007, when the company recorded a tenfold increase in its 10GbE port shipments, far outpacing the rate of growth in the market. According to market research firm DellOro Group, NetXen attained the #1 market position in 10GbE adapter card port shipments in 2007 and maintained its top share position in early 2008.

"The first half was an unqualified success for NetXen as 10GbE shipments continued to ramp, said Govind Kizhepat, CEO and founder of NetXen. "This year, we have seen 10GbE technology make the leap from small-scale trials to mainstream Fortune 500 deployments across a variety of verticals including financial services, bio pharmaceuticals, defense, media and entertainment, and industrial engineering. The server markets 10GbE transition is clearly underway.

NetXens 10GbE Intelligent NIC product line debuted in early 2006 with industry-leading performance and features, combined with breakthrough price points. NetXen has continued innovating and driving the adoption of 10GbE with the launch of its third generation of Intelligent NICs on August 12, 2008. This third generation product family based on the NX3031 delivers the highest performance in the industry as well as advanced virtualization support. When combined with NetXens patented FlexLOM technology, the NX3031 is a breakthrough solution for cost-effective LAN on Motherboard solutions for mainstream datacenter applications, allowing systems to be configured with quad GbE ports or a combination of 10Gb and 1Gb ports.

NetXen offers the only 10GbE solution OEMed for HP and IBM blades, as well as the only PCI Express (PCIe) 10GbE adapter solution OEMed by HP and IBM for their volume rack and tower servers. NetXen-branded NIC products are also available through its U.S. distribution partners, Bell Micro and CDW Corporation.
