Univa UD Announces Software Stack to Simplify Cluster Deployment
Univa UD, a leading provider of HPC systems software, announced today availability of UniCluster with Oracle Unbreakable Linux support. The combined solution simplifies development, delivery, and maintenance of Intel Cluster Ready certified clusters.

UniCluster is a fully integrated, community-enabled open source cluster software stack with a single support path for all packaged components. UniCluster simplifies the deployment, configuration and management of clusters. By adding Oracle Unbreakable Linux support to its offering, Univa UD helps organizations to seamlessly implement, manage and support high performance compute environments at a fraction of the cost with a single support channel.

Univa UD is also working with Intel in the Intel Cluster Ready cluster architecture and certification program which simplifies the design and delivery of high quality clusters by system vendors. Intel Cluster Ready certified systems are verified for compatibility, quality, and performance, ensuring customers can reliably deploy a wide range of registered compatible ISV applications. The result is a simplified and improved cluster selection, deployment, and ownership experience.

“Our customers will benefit from the combination of UniCluster’s simplicity, the enterprise-class support delivered through the Oracle Unbreakable Linux program and the consistency Intel Cluster Ready provides to HPC application environments,” said Gary Tyreman, VP and General Manager of HPC for Univa UD. “With a single, comprehensive support contract at an attractive price, Univa UD continues to deliver practical and cost effective solutions.”

“With the growth in HPC systems running the Linux operating system, Univa UD is helping to expand the market opportunity for the Oracle Unbreakable Linux support program,” said Wim Coakerts, vice president Linux Engineering, Oracle. “Customers can enjoy the benefit of simplified HPC deployment and reduced cost support model afforded by UniCluster and Oracle Unbreakable Linux support.”

“Customers value the performance of Intel® Xeon® processors, but demand simplified clusters ready to run off-the-shelf HPC applications,” said Bill Magro, director, High Performance Computing Solutions, Software and Service Group, Intel Corporation. “UniCluster will accelerate the availability of Intel® Cluster Ready systems that meet these customers’ expectations.”

UniCluster with Oracle Unbreakable Linux support is available immediately via the Intel Enabled Server Acceleration Alliance (ESAA) program (http://www.esaa-members.com/index.php/pages/home), on www.grid.org, from Univa UD direct or through its network of partners.

UniCluster Annual Care, priced at $249 per node, includes support of Oracle Enterprise Linux, integrated Sun Grid Engine software and features a single support contract for the entire stack.
