Virtualization Buoys 10Gbps Ethernet Network Adapter Market, According to Dell'Oro Group

According to a newly published report by Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, the 10Gbps Ethernet Network Adapter market is benefiting from the impact of server virtualization. The report indicates that growth was especially strong in the controller segment which enjoyed a double-digit increase in the third quarter of this year.

"Broadcom showed very strong growth as a result of its 10Gbps Ethernet network adapter silicon being used in HP's recently-introduced ProLiant BL495c, a server blade specifically built to be a virtual machine host," said Seamus Crehan, Vice President at Dell'Oro Group. "However, a number of additional vendors held the top spots in some of the other major adapter card segments. Intel maintained its number one revenue position despite strong growth from Chelsio, while NetXen held on to the top port shipment spot," Crehan added.
