Virtual Computer Inc., the company that is applying advanced virtualization technology to redefine PC lifecycle management, today announced that Sandrijn Stead has joined the Virtual Computer team as vice president of sales. In response to the global opportunity for its NxTop™ solution, Virtual Computer also announced its expansion into Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), along with select markets in Asia Pacific. With a decade of experience in developing new business territories and driving worldwide sales, Stead will be a key asset to Virtual Computer as the company looks to grow its customer and value-added reseller (VAR) base in the coming year.
“Sandrijn has extensive experience working with emerging technology and has proven himself at the likes of NetScreen, Proofpoint and CipherTrust,” said Dan McCall, president and CEO of Virtual Computer. “With 80 percent of our target market outside the United States and with Sandrijn’s knowledge of European and worldwide markets, he is the perfect fit to drive our global sales initiatives.”
According to a report entitled, Forecast: PCs, Worldwide and North America, June 2008, Gartner Dataquest projects that in 2009 there will be approximately 197 million corporate PCs sold worldwide, with 44 million coming from North America and 75 million from EMEA; Gartner also projects that approximately half of all new corporate PCs shipped will be notebooks. Due to increasing notebook PC adoption, IT administrators around the globe will be seeking cost-effective ways to manage new PCs coming into the enterprise, especially solutions that can handle the unique challenges of the increasingly mobile workforce.
With mobile or notebook PCs, applying patches and updates becomes more difficult for IT teams, since notebooks are not persistently connected to the corporate network. Notebooks PCs are subjected to more wear and tear than desktops, resulting in a more frequent need to troubleshoot, rebuild, and replace systems. Further, notebook PCs are more likely to have non-standard software installed at home or during business travel, are lost and stolen with greater frequency, and rarely have sound data backup and data encryption solutions in place.
“NxTop is a solution that stops the ‘madness’ of agent-based PC management,” said Stead. “I’m thrilled to join Virtual Computer and work with organizations and VARs who are interested in learning how our technology can lower management costs, improve security and make the end-user happy; all at the same time and all a very low cost per user.”
