Second Annual Technology Convergence Conference Will Highlight IT & Facilities Trends and Best Practices for 2009
TELADATA, a leading consulting firm specializing in IT infrastructure design, planning and project management, today announced speakers for its second annual Technology Convergence Conference.

The conference, which will be held February 19, 2009 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, will bring together IT and facilities leaders from across the country to network and share best practices. Participating at this year’s conference will be industry experts from Adobe Systems, Cisco Systems, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, Sybase and VMware.

PK Argawal, Chief Technology Officer, State of California will deliver the conference’s keynote address titled “Web 2.0 – The Changing Workforce.”

Christian Belady, Microsoft’s Principal Power and Cooling Architect, will participate in an afternoon panel titled “Green Data Center Strategies and Energy Efficient Computing Environments.”

The full-day conference will feature four themes that will cover topics on Converging Technologies, Energy Efficient Strategies, Solutions for Top Data Center Challenges, and IT/ Facilities Strategic Planning. Some of the Presentation topics include:

  • A Holistic Approach to Data Center Design that includes Cloud, Virtualization and Efficiency Efforts
  • Is Wi-Fi ready for Business Critical Applications?
  • Achieving Economies of Scale with Cloud Computing
  • Data Center Metrics and Monitoring

“As a data center physical architect and designer, I focus heavily on the intersection of IT and Facilities technologies and needs,” said Douglas Alger, IT Architect - Physical Infrastructure, Cisco Systems and Author of Build the Best Data Center Facility for Your Business and the upcoming Grow a Greener Data Center. “TELADATA’s conference is particularly valuable because it addresses data center issues that each of these organizations face and must work together to solve. The conference is a great opportunity to discuss data center challenges and solutions with a large network of data center experts.”

Attendees will also have the opportunity to join lively roundtable discussions moderated by Data Center Pulse - an exclusive group of global data center owners, operators, and users. This open forum will cover the top ten topics on the minds of the Data Center Community.

“TELADATA’s vision for the Technology Convergence Conference aligns very well with my vision for managing critical data center infrastructure,” said Mark Thiele, Director of Business Operations for VMware. “The TCC is an excellent opportunity to help build the understanding that the data center needs to be treated more holistically. To make that happen, you must have one person or group fill the skill, communication and responsibility gap that often exists between IT and Facilities teams.”

Last year’s conference attracted over 350 attendees and this year it is expected to attract over 450. Those who register on or before January 16th will save $100 on their registration.

Registration can be handled at the following site: http://www.technologyconvergenceconference.com/Register/register.html

The Technology Convergence Conference focuses on providing an environment where IT, Facilities, Telecommunications, and other technology professionals can come together to exchange ideas and best practices. Expert speakers from today’s leading corporations offer case studies that provide attendees with critical information and in-the-trenches tactics to effectively deal with issues affecting their facilities and IT equipment.

“We have put together the conference with an emphasis on end-user experience,” said Bob Brown, CEO of TELADATA. “Given the unprecedented challenges - like data center energy consumption - that today’s IT leaders and facilities managers face, we believe that the attendees will be better equipped if they hear end user case studies, as well as the opportunity to exchange information and best practices.”
