AppSense, the leading provider of user environment management solutions for the enterprise, announced that it is expanding its U.S. presence to capitalize on growing demand for its user environment management solutions. The company also revealed that it has hired seasoned industry executive Richard Morrison as President and COO, added virtualization pioneer Harry Ruda to its Executive Advisory Board, and plans to double its U.S. sales team this year.
“The fact that, even in these trying economic times, AppSense business continues to grow, speaks to the tremendous cost savings and agility that our user environment management solutions enable,” said Charles Sharland, CEO of AppSense. “Rich Morrison’s extensive operations and sales leadership experience, and his proven track record in building successful software companies will help maximize our opportunities in the U.S. In addition, Harry Ruda’s insights from his groundbreaking work at Softricity and Desktone will be invaluable in shaping our strategic plans in the desktop virtualization market.”
“The interest in AppSense solutions is very high, and I’m encouraged by both the cost saving benefits AppSense customers are realizing in server-based computing today and the additional productivity and financial gains they’ll be able to realize through AppSense-enabled dynamic virtual desktops in the future,” said Morrison. “I’m looking forward to building on the momentum that AppSense has already established, delivering outstanding value to enterprise customers, and developing successful go-to-market partnerships.”
Possessing over twenty five years experience with enterprise software companies in both the domestic and international markets focusing on sales and channel development, Morrison is ideally suited to establishing a strong operations and sales base for AppSense in the U.S. He has held senior management positions in strategic business development and sales for CDC Software, AIT, Homeportfolio.com and IMA, where he grew international business by more than 200 percent. He has a solid track record of driving sales through global strategic and tactical partners including ACS, AT&T, EDS, HP, NCR, Perot and Unisys. Morrison began his career at Daly & Wolcott, where he managed sales and service channels for IBM’s ERP software. He also served as a captain in the U.S. Army Special Operations Forces.
Harry Ruda is well-regarded for his pioneering work in desktop virtualization and enterprise software. Currently CEO of Desktone, provider of the first platform that enables hosted virtual desktops as an outsourced subscription service, Ruda also co-founded and was CEO of Softricity, an application virtualization company that was acquired by Microsoft. Ruda also held executive positions at ITS, Network Switching Systems, Global Technologies, and Bell Atlantic, among other organizations.
AppSense helps enterprises cut costs today using their existing client infrastructure, while enabling further savings through dynamically composed virtual desktops. By personalizing standardized desktops and simplifying management of large-scale, complex environments, AppSense customers—which include more than 4,000 organizations globally—respond faster to changing needs, improve user productivity and deliver a stable, secure working environment. The company’s solution decouples the user environment from the desktop, stores and manages it independently, and automatically applies it to the desktop on–demand.
