Catbird CTO Weighs in for Virtualization Security Grudge Match at RSA 2009
Catbird, the pioneering leader in cutting-edge security and compliance solutions for virtual and physical networks, today announced that Chief Technology Officer Michael Berman, is gearing up for a good-natured virtualization security throw down at the RSA® Conference 2009.

In a panel discussion pitting virtualization security skeptics against proponents in an event billed as a “verbal cage match” on how best to secure virtual platforms, Berman will square off with well-known virtualization experts in virtualization security (Session FEA-303) at 10:40 a.m. PT on Thursday, April 23 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The panel also features Berman’s teammate for the showdown, fellow virtualization crusader and chief security architect at Unisys, Christofer Hoff. On the platform side, Stephen Herrod, CTO and VP of R&D at VMware, will be joined by Simon Crosby, CTO of Citrix Systems. The grudge match will be refereed by Andreas Antonopoulos, respected analyst and senior VP at Nemertes Research.

“There’s no doubt that virtualization has revolutionized the industry in terms of efficiency and cost savings, but it’s also added a whole new dimension to the already complex security landscape,” Berman said. “This session promises to be an entertaining and educational discussion, examining the tough questions surrounding virtualization security: who is responsible, how it should be managed, how best to secure it, and ultimately, how it will impact an organization, its customers and would-be attackers.”

As a prelude to Berman’s panel, Catbird’s VP of Marketing, Tamar Newberger will deliver a theater presentation showcasing Catbird’s V-Security™ 2.0 integration with McAfee solutions at 3 p.m. PT on Tuesday, April 21 in the McAfee Security Innovation Alliance (SIA) Partner Pavilion (Booth #1017). “We are very pleased to showcase our McAfee Compatible solution in this exclusive venue,” said Ms. Newberger. “Catbird and McAfee together deliver world-class protection to both physical and virtual infrastructure, providing unprecedented visibility, policy compliance and enforcement for the entire data center.”

Catbird’s flagship V-Security™ 2.0 features VMShield 2.0 with V-Tracker, the latest innovation in Catbird’s comprehensive line of cross-platform, non-invasive security solutions for virtual and physical networks. Catbird’s encyclopedic Virtual Infrastructure Security Engine (VISE™) correlates hundreds of machine attributes with access control, network segmentation, vulnerability and IDP security events for both virtual and physical machines, across multiple clusters and data centers, to deliver broad asset awareness and defense-in-depth.
